Prom: an event to cherish; a moment to be in fashion

February is fast approaching; and as I hinted on my previous post, this month marks the event where young boys and girls transform into gentlemen and beautiful ladies. Not Valentine’s of course; it’s the prom night.

Before we go deeper to planning what to wear who to date, let’s take a pause for a while and get to know the event.

So what really is Prom?

Prom is a shortcut to promenade, an event in the US and Canada describing a formal dance held during the end of an academic year. In the UK, the term refers to a season of classical concerts (proms), held between July and September.

For large high schools, prom is usually divided into two; junior prom, for those finishing their 11th grade, and the senior prom, for students finishing middle school.

The event serves as an opportunity for the students to socialize and get acquainted in to formal events. Thus, everyone’s in their best formal wear.

Common activities that take place in the event include dining, dancing, and the crowning of the prom King and Queen.

Proms are often times also considered the “most romantic” night of the high school students’ lives as they get to go out with the person they like. I guess that’s the real reason behind the I-want-to-look-ultra-fabulous mindset during proms.

Well, with or without a date, undoubtedly, proms are one of those high points of a high school student’s life; an event truly worth remembering.

On my upcoming posts we will be tackling more about proms. – The do’s and don’t’s, tips, and some guide for a perfect prom look.

Getting the best in what we really want

People really have varied personalities and interests. While I am so much into fashion and celebrities, there are those whose interests are in technology, TV, movies, and online games. Well the latter was mentioned because I can’t seem to comprehend why some people tend to be really addicted to online games, including online casinos, poker, slots, and others related to that sort.

Of course it’s a form of recreation. On my blogs, including this one, it wasn’t just once that I considered the idea of playing casinos online. I believe it’s a good past time. But for those who consider gambling their breathing air, man, you must have helluva money!

Well don’t get me wrong, you can do all you want with your money, just be sure to get a site that’s reputable enough to cater for your gambling needs. And how do you get just that? – Via review sites. Yep, by reading reviews on various casino sites, you not only secure your bets, but you also assure yourself of getting the best online gambling experience.

Who wants a win-lose situation anyway? Fashionistas, techies, TV junks, or gamblers; we all want simply the best from our ‘passion[s]’, right?!

Jewels, glitters, and shimmers the Bulgari way

These days, it is quite impossible to think of something, someone, or somewhere that’s not yet online. Small or big businesses, they all seem able to fit well in the e-world.

I guess it’s no wonder that even world-renowned company for jaw-dropping jewels, Bulgari has also set up their site to show off the public their rare and precious jewelry collection.

Well if you are one of those who can’t help but be in awe of the stars’ gorgeous jewels in the red carpet, then this is your chance to catch a closer look at them. And although we might not be able to afford them, a virtual window shopping would probably do.

Fashionable way to get into online gambling

In these modern days, everything can be done by just a click of the mouse. Almost everything in this world can be done ONLINE.

Want to pay your bills? You can do it online. Withdrawing or depositing your cash? There’s online banking. Want to have a diploma? Online courses are available. Shopping? Of course there’s online shopping. Thinking of playing casino? Playing casino online is just right at your finger tips.

Well it’s no wonder why thousands of gambling sites today are being created. But with this number of gaming sites and poker rooms, how can one get the best of his online gambling experience? I say; get a review site first before deciding where to play.

Everybody needs a guide. And playing online casinos is not an exemption. With a reliable guide you can assure of getting objective reviews and ratings pertaining to various casino sites. Thus, assuring that you get yourself nothing but the best.

Now that’s a fashionable way to get into the world of online gambling.

A Glimpse of the Milan Fashion Week

As top names in the fashion industry gather to showcase their latest collections, the Milan Fashion Week would probably be one of the most celebrated events in the runway.

From January 12 through 18, these famous designers will exhibit the latest trends in men and women’s fashion. Add to that, stars like Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, and the Spice Girls graced the show to see what’s in for the season and to support their favorite designers.

Well for fashionistas and fashion addicts like me, this is just an event no one should miss. But since it’s quite impossible (not to mention lavish) to fly to Milan and catch the show, a glimpse of what there was is already enough.

Here’s a slide show of some of the menswear fashion:

Trends Alert: A guide to 2008 fashion

It’s no question; I am a huge fashion fanatic! Well it may not show on my wardrobe, but it definitely shows through the blogs I maintain (including this one). And if you are just like me who’s just excited to see what in for this year in the fashion scene then this post if for you.

Let’s all see the trends that we would all look forward to this spring.

The Brown

Yep, this year, brown leather belts take in to the limelight through long and looped looks, well twisted and knotted are okay, too. Wear it over feminine frocks or ultra girly dresses to keep it from looking so sweet, that’s unless you are really a big fan of Hello Kitty, right?!

Hand Bags

Square, rectangle, big, small, the size and shape does not matter; grab bags are the ‘in’ thing this year. While oversized bags are still going to have a place this year, these hand bags or carry bags will show a smarter and casual personality.

The Crop

Although it may look manly, cropped pants are in fact sexy if paired with a serious heel and ultra feminine tops.

Gladiators

They’re still in! While it has been relatively neutral on the previous seasons, these gladiator sandals are now taking in to a higher edge with wild straps and bold colors.

The Legs

As mentioned on my of my previous posts, leggings are probably gonna say goodbye in the fashion scene this year. Aside from opaques that have seem to dominate the leg world recently, sheer legs via stockings and diaphanous pants also makes scenes in the runway trend.

So are we all ready to be in fashion this year?

Ready to shop for my sister’s prom

Admittedly, I am the one who’s more excited for my sister’s prom this coming February. Right now I am already doing a canvass for the latest trends in prom dresses, shoes, hair, and make-up. After all, what is being a Celebrity Fashion Watch blogger if I could not help my little sister get a fashion hit for her prom night, right?!

Well for a start, I would want my little sis’ prom dress to be really unique and eye-catching. Of course not the daring-type of getting attention; it would be something sweet and charming that’s just perfect for her age. And you know what? Although the Internet has a wide array of prom dresses that I can choose from, not all online shops are capable of giving the customers the ease and convenience of shopping.

I guess this is where a good ecommerce software is vital. You see, for customers like me, it is really important that all our shopping needs are well attended in a very easy manner. So for online merchants out there, I suggest you get your shop/s a shopping cart software that will surely provide with everything you’d need for your online business.

Give yourself and your customers the kind of ease that you both deserve. Give people like me the convenience of shopping!

Putting drama on your eyes through the smoky effect

I have always been so fascinated with the way stars add drama with their eyes. No, not the tears; I mean those smoky eyes that seem to add a hint of mystery, sophistication, and yes, I just mentioned drama.

Oh, those smoky eyes are just perfect for evening occasions where you’d want to stand out and be on the spotlight.

Well months ago, I've made a post about the step-by-step guide for achieving those smoky eyes look. But just in case, this video would be an added reference to get that complex-looking dramatic eyes.

And as they always say, keep the lips simple. Enjoy!

Prom Make-up Tips

February’s coming. And nope, it’s not just the Valentine’s that makes the month special. For high school students, this is the month when they all get to dress up well for their promenade. Well if you’re like me who has a sister who’s about to attend the prom, I guess it would be wise to prepare in advance. – What to wear (cocktail or gown), how to do the hair, what kind of shoes, how to apply the make-up, and so much more.

Yeah, proms can be really stressful sometimes; planning to look perfect for the prom seems to be a really serious task!

Well let’s try to take one thing at a time, and try to settle on the make-up problem.

Here are some make-up basics on prom night from Pretty for Prom:

Preparation: Be sure your face is clean and properly moisturized. Makeup blends best into moisturized skin. Also, if possible, put your dress on before doing your makeup to prevent any stains or smudges that might get on the dress while slipping it over your head.

Step 1: Use your index finger to gently cover any dark circles under your eyes with a concealer that is one shade lighter than the rest of your skin.

Step 2: If you have any unfortunate prom-night zits or blemishes (they happen to the best of us), cover them with a foundation that is the exact color of your skin. Step back from the mirror and see if your skin has any blotches or redness. If so, blend these patches with a little more foundation. If you cannot find a foundation the exact color of your skin, choose a slightly darker shade. A light foundation will appear to sit on your face and will not blend as well.

Step 3: Set your makeup by lightly covering your face with a small amount of powder. If you do not use powder, your concealer will disappear before the night is over.

Step 4: Groom your brows by combing them up and across with a brow brush or toothbrush (used only for this purpose!). If you have thin brows, softly apply eye shadow to fill the brows in and give them a fuller appearance. Do not tweeze or pluck your brows on the night of the prom. This will cause noticeable redness and irritation.

Step 5: Use your finger or a brush to apply shimmery shadow to your eyelids. A silvery lavender shade is flattering for almost everyone, but you can experiment with the shade based upon your natural complexion and the color of your dress.

Step 6: Apply some cream blush to give your cheeks a touch of color. Start at the apple of the cheek and blend the blush up and then down with a full brush. Turn to the side to be sure the blush is fully blended. The perfect color of blush for you is the same as the color of your cheeks after a few minutes of exercise.

Step 7: Apply some mascara to both your top and bottom eyelashes, creating a thicker covering on the outer lashes. To create an appearance of fuller, longer lashes, wait for the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat.

Step 8: Fill in your entire lip with a creamy lip pencil for longer lasting color. Then, use your finger or a brush to apply gloss on top. The gloss will give you a sexy, wet-lip look. Choose your lip color based upon your complexion, the color of your dress, and how much you want your lips to stand out.

Getting into the Rugby Sport

Well for just a while let’s try doing the ‘boyish’ stuff and do away from our usual girly thing-y like beauty, fashion, and shopping. Let’s talk about sports…

Okay, I know I’m really not into sports nor have been into the athletic side; but I’m a fan of several sport teams and sport personalities (say Oscar De La Hoya and Michael Jordan). But we will not be dealing about boxing or basketball today. Today, it is all about the rugby game.

To be honest, not until I started working as a web editor did I get the chance to know about the sport. It’s a pretty interesting sport that I think more macho men would enjoy watching.

And if you are one of those who are interested to get to know the sport, you might as well want to know RBS 6 Nations. – Europe’s premier international rugby tournament. Browse over the tournament’s official website and find out everything you’d need to know about the game; news, championship information, squad details, all-time statistics, and more.

You know, it’s never too late to be in to sports. We might as well want to add rugby in our list of sports interest.

Just when I thought I’d be gloomy without fashion and beauty

It has been raining since last night. And the weather is this bad, expect me to be feeling all so gloomy the whole day. I don’t know, I just don’t feel like posting about beauty and shopping and fashion today. With me feeling gloomy, it’s kind of fun to think about doing something I’ve never done before. – Play an online casino game.

Well although I’m too excited to do such thing now, I know I just can’t yet until I’ve figured out which best online casino site will suit me.

And how else could I get to know my casino site but through online casino review sites like Pro360.com. Yup, through Pro360.com’s comprehensive reviews of various online casino sites, I don’t have to worry where to get the online casino site that’s truly best for me. All I have to do is just browse over their list of poker rooms and ratings and then do the thinking; which is best for me?

I guess I can’t get to gloomy today, can I?

Shopping cart software for online businesses

As mentioned on my Chellebrity blog, my friend and I just planned on putting up an online store featuring a line of fashion accessories and apparel. Well I was really excited with the thought that I already have tried to canvass for the best suppliers and ecommerce software for our thought business.

Actually the latter plays one of the most crucial parts to consider in our “future” online business. As some of my business contacts in Multiply say, the key to a successful online business is a good shopping cart software.

And if it’s a good shopping cart you are looking, Ashop Commerce has just got the program that would surely address the needs of online merchants. So if you ever want to assure a smooth flow of business, where making a transaction is a no sweat, then go get yourself the shopping cart software for business persons like ‘us.’

Now, are you ready to be in business?!

Blogging for Money is the ‘in’ thing

About six months ago, just during the time that I am conceptualizing this blog, three things were considered; its subject, its audience, and its profitability. The latter may sound so off the line, but for me it is an important factor because it is my way of gauging that I get something from my hard-work.

Of course a blog for money sounds so much better than blogging for nothing. Going with the flow, I guess blog advertising is just the ‘in’ thing these days. Advertisers advertise on blogs for easy marketing while bloggers get paid for blogging with the reviews they make.

Now Smorty is just one of this services that allows advertisers to be connected with bloggers. Well this is actually my third attempt for Fashion Re-View, and finally it has just got approved! I guess with a little effort and creativity, my blogging ‘career’ is just getting better. And for that, I say thank you to Smorty!

Strap It Off With Strapless Slippers

Yep, you read it right, strapless slippers. Well the first time I heard about them, I thought it was just ridiculous! And I still keep my opinion until now. But for fashion’s sake, let’s try to keep our love on Havaianas flipflops aside and take a look at this latest fashion footwear trend. – Strapless slippers.

I actually saw it first on TV worn by television host, Boy Abunda. In fairness, it looked pretty okay on him; although I don’t know if I would want getting myself one. But as a friend just told me, these sticky slippers are perfect for fashionistas who want to stand out and make a statement (some statement that is). And since it has no straps, they’re super comfortable plus you get to explore your creativity thinking what to do with those exposed feet (think of hena perhaps). Oh the possibility is endless…

So, are you ready to take on the spotlight? If so, you can contact vanessagorra@yahoo.com for your orders.

Let's do some recall...

Happy New Year everyone!

Well since it’s the first day of the year, let’s mellow down a bit from the usual “I love so” and “I so hate” lines out of various shopping or beauty products. After all, this blog isn’t just about that stuff.

The year 2007 has generally been a good year for me, with several ups and downs. I gave birth to a healthy, cute, and handsome baby boy, I got a lot of opportunities from pay per post sites, I got the job to do the celebrity fashion watch blog, and had a healthy year for me and my family.

Although I had my share of frustrations due to not finding a “real job” (depends on how you define that) I am just grateful that for the past year I had enough of everything.

Yes, it was a great year of the pig for me…but hopefully this year will be better for everything!
