Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

My mom’s attending a beauty pageant this Saturday, oh no, she’s definitely not one of those contestants nor one of the judges. She’s going up the stage to give out some minor awards.

Anyway, what does this have to do with today’s post? Well since we wanted to be practical, my mom asked me to do her make-up instead of asking some make-up artist to do it. Aside from being expensive, it’s also a bit inconvenient to go to the salon then go back home and dress up.

Although I’m no professional to putting on that colors on the face, I can do a little sweeping and gliding with that make-up brush.

Since it’s an evening event, I am planning to give my mom that smoky eyes look. Well I learned it from magazines and beauty sites; heavy eye make-up is definitely a knock out.

So here’s a step-by-step guide for those who want to try the look for themselves.

1. Start with a primer. This will make sure your eyeshadow does not melt into your eyelid crease.

2. Apply eyeliner. Apply black, brown, or gray eyeliner depending on your choice of monochromatic look. Put it on above the upper lash line with a thicker crease in the middle of the eye.

3. Blend color. The key to a smoky eye look is the blending of the color on the bottom lashes. Smudge it!

4. Apply light color. Smoky eyes are all about pairing a lighter base to a darker hue.

5. Blend dark color keeping the darker hue below the crease. This will give the smoky effect.

6. Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. And viola! A smoky eye look in an instant!

And remember; the key to a perfect smoky eye is just a matter of proper blending. Add to that, keep the lips nude to get the focus on your eyes.
