People Re-View: Kate Moss

We’ve seen the blacks like Tyra and Naomi fight over the limelight for Fashion Re-View’s People Re-View edition, this time, a Brit takes over the scene for this label. – Kate Moss.

Katherine Ann Moss was born on January 16, 1974 in South London, England. The English supermodel was made known because of her waifish figure and high-profile advertising campaigns including an over 300 magazine covers.

Attending Ridgeway Primary School, Kate was never noted for her academic success (at least God’s showing some fairness there).

Anyway, at the age of 14, Kate was discovered by the founder of Storm Model Management, Sarah Doukas. Her modeling career kicked off when famous photographer, Corinne Day shot black and white photographs of her for The Face, a British magazine.

In the 1990s, Kate became an anti-supermodel in contrast to the curvaceous and tall figures of other supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell.

In 2004, she was bagged the number 8 spot for Celebrity Sleuths 25 Sexiest Women and was also 8th in Maxim’s 50 Sexiest Women of 1999. Aside from the two, FHM and Arena magazines also hailed her as one of the sexiest women.

With an estimate of £45 million worth of earnings, Kate was ranked 99th as richest women in Britain. In July 2007, earning an estimated total of $9 million in the past 12 months, Kate Moss was second in Forbes’ list of the World’s 15 top-earning models.

Aside from being a supermodel, Kate is also an international fashion icon garnering various awards for her style while setting numerous trends. And in 2007, Kate released a collection of clothes designed by her for the Topshop chain.

A supermodel, fashion icon, and designer… Who wouldn’t want to be in Kate’s place? (That is of course minus the controversies and the good-for-nothing boyfriends)

Journpipz: A Fashionable Get-Together

Okay, this is really not about fashion or anything related to that. But since it’s a holiday, let’s have a break from the stressful world of fashion and beauty.

Five days from now, my college group called Journpipz is having our get-together (again). Well this semi-reunion is pretty much special than our usual gatherings. After graduation, we seem to have lived our own separate ways. Some went abroad (spell that as Abu Dhabbi), some went to other cities (Cebu, Manila), some continued to finish their studies (I hope they pursue), some found their jobs here in the city, and some started to have a family (grins!).

This year, as some of the gang are coming home, it would be the most perfect opportunity to spend an afternoon of talks, laughter, and most of all, gapping.

Oh yes, we all love to gap. I guess we put a positive meaning to the word – making a statement with just being together.

And of course it’s not just the “gapping”, it’s the catching up with our fellow Journpipz…

I miss you guys; and I’ll be looking forward on our get-together. (char)

Eye for an Eye

It’s no news that I’m a fashion addict. Whenever I have the money, I never fail to put an addition to my collection of cosmetics. But of course I only purchase those which I think is cool and trendy.

Right now I’m going gaga over this Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown. They are simply b-e-a-u-tiful! They add contour in the eye while giving a glamorous finish to whatever look you’d want.

Wear it simple or wear it colorful; the sticks just work perfectly for every girls’ personality.

Oh, I just can’t get enough of these sticks! Get one of this for Php 199 at your local Avon dealer.

Also available in Blackest Black.

Color me Red

Years ago, whenever I go through a broken heart, it is my hair that does the suffering. It’s either they get cut or colored. The worst I got was getting my hair colored red; well let’s not actually that bad since I loved it, I just didn’t have the guts to wear it back again.

Anyway, you see the hair is definitely a woman’s crowning glory. Call it a trick or a cheat, but the hair does all the wonder for a pretty face.

This one right here is one ‘do I’d really love to try. The curls are absolutely sexy and dye’s just to-die-for.

Well getting this look ain’t that hard to get actually; you need not spend the whole afternoon with a smock and a foil headdress. With today’s beauty advancements, you can already get a rich, shiny hair color to average drugstores.

For a perfect do-it-yourself hair color, choose a formula that’s semi-permanent as it adds serious shine and translucence.

And to get this pretty hue here, try L’Oreal Paris Color Pulse Concentrated Color Mousse in Funky Cherry ($5.50, at drugstores).

Sniff 'Em

Diesel, the Italian jeans, casual, and other clothing manufacturer has just released their new fragrance that was said to be “their best yet” according to People.

The fragrance, Diesel Fuel for Life Women starts off bold and then dries to a soft, powdery femininite scent. The fragrance releases a captivating scent that is both innocent and sensual with notes of jasmine, patchouli and blackcurrant. Fuel for Life men on the other hand holds a modern mix of grapefruit, lavender and raspberry notes for a sweet twist.

Both products are wrapped in a vintage fabric classic of the Diesel style and can be bought at sephora.com starting at $46.

Mirror Image

Well as much as possible I try to do away from making celebrity-related posts here on Fashion Re-View since I already have my Celebrity Fashion Watch blog. But this one’s so amusing I just have to put it here; mirror images of Keira Knightley and Victoria Beckham for Interview and Elle cover photos, respectively.

Sans the top of Keira, both are clad in white pants and black suspenders for separate magazines that are now out in the market.

Victoria is in her usual posh way putting on a white tank off the shoulder with a showcase of her cleavage. While the topless Pirates of the Caribbean star looked majestic in this yet another clothes off cover.

I honestly don’t know whose cover looks best since I’m a fan of the two. So I guess I’d live it all to you.

Cogito Ergo Sum

I think therefore I am… I think I love this pair of shoes therefore I am shoe addict. Nah, kidding aside, but really, I guess I’m having myself an obsession on fabulous wedges. For me they’re better than stilettos.

They are better because they answer my needs and problems for having sweaty feet. Yes, I have that; that’s why I can’t afford to wear fancy stilettos with gliding features.

Unlike wedges, stilettos give a higher risk of sprain not to mention disastrous incidents. So imagine me not enjoying my prom because of these sweaty feet.

Anyway, since then I told myself not to push on things that are really not for me. So I chose using wedges instead. And it’s actually not that bad. They’re funky, unconventional, and they make beautiful statements just like this Strawberry Shortcake wedges.

Wear them with jeans or skirts and you’ll surely turn everybody else’s heads.

For those who want to be different or those who have the same problem like me, you can get this pair for Php 1340 at http://methilation.multiply.com/.

In Re-view: Naomi Campbell

Since supermodel Tyra Banks already made a kick off here in Fashion Re-View’s People Review, I don’t think her frienemy (friend that used to be an enemy) should get behind.

Today’s spotlight is focused on English supermodel, actress, singer, and author Naomi Campbell.

Born in London, England on May 22, 1970, Naomi is a mixed blood of Jamaican, African, and Chinese ancestry.

Coming from a quite well-to-do family, she attended in a comprehensive school in Streatham named Dunraven School. Later on she entered the London Academy for Performing Arts then graduated at the Italia Conti Academy stage school.

At the age of 15, while still studying at the Italia Conti Academy, Naomi was spotted by the former head of Synchro models agency, Beth Boldt while window-shopping in Convent Garden. She then made it to the cover of Elle in April 1986 in lieu of a black model who canceled out. Two years later she appeared on the cover of the French Vogue becoming the first black cover girl.

Starting as a catwalk model, Naomi soared high as she was picked up for high-profile advertising campaigns for Lee Jeans and Olympus Corporation. This propelled her modeling career to enter the American market.

Naomi has already walked the catwalk for many famous fashion designers that include Gianni Versace and Valentino. Add to that, with her completely ethnic features, Naomi has appeared on over 500 magazine covers since her entrance in the industry.

Apart from being a model, Naomi also has a talent in singing. In 1995, she released her single “Love and Tears” which sold over 1 million copies worldwide. This however, was panned by the critics as a flop.

Well although Naomi’s singing career didn’t make it as much as her modeling career, Naomi did establish herself as a name to behold for aspiring models. With her success came the creation of her two spin-off companies named NC Connect and the Design House of Naomi Campbell.

Blogging: A new fashion

Months ago, the word blog is somewhat strange to my ear until a friend taught me how to do it. And so I tried getting myself one but never really took it seriously; the blog I had was lucky to have at least one post a month. Until one day, that friend who taught me about blogging started to make money out of his blog. That’s the time I realized the potential profit of these blogs.

So with all will and effort, this is the blog I painstakingly took care of with the thought of putting an investment. And honestly, it really does pay off; thanks to bloggerwave.

You too can reap the fruit of your labor. If you have a blog and would want to make some extra bucks, Bloggerwave, an advertising media on blogs can give you opportunities to gain profit for your blogs.

So what are you waiting for?

How's My Blog Rated

free dating sites

Yes! This site is absolutely safe for all; kids, youth, fashionistas or not, this one's for you!:D

Well I am not usually concerned with whoever reads this blog, as long as they keep the traffic up, well and good. But then as a mother and a sister, I realized that it is also important to think of your audience first before putting that thoughts into writing.

Anyway, I was uhm... "shocked" that my Celebrity Fashion Watch blog is rated:

free dating sites

This is so for the words dead and breast that were used on previous posts...whew...

Old Navy’s On Sale

Now here’s a good news and bad news for holiday shoppers. Good news is, Old Navy, a brand of clothing and chain of stores owned by Gap, Inc. is having a winter sale for their sweaters, hoodies, and pajamas. Get a wide range of clothes to keep you warm this cold season all for less than $25!!!

I was really ecstatic upon seeing this velour zip hoodie originally priced $19.50 and now it dropped to $12.50… Well it’s not that big BIG but where can you get that $7 worth of savings for this extra adorable jacket?! Well this hoodie is just one of the many warm clothes you can choose from in the site.

However… ( I said there’s a bad news, right?) only those living within the US can enjoy this good news as the company doesn’t ship internationally for now. And yes, you can imagine how my heart sank with this fact…sigh…

Insure for Life

Let’s not talk about fashion for a while. Well the other day, a good friend of mine was so excited to tell me that he just had himself insured. It kind of brought me to thinking about getting myself an insurance, too.

For those looking for quoting insurance services like me, I guess Advantage Term Life would be a best resource. With their low rate of insurance quotes one can really be assured to save money on insurance and be able to reduce premiums.

At these hard times, one should really be wise enough on spending their money. Get yourself insured!

In Re-View: Tyra Banks

Fashion Re-View as its name suggests isn’t just about the best buys and best trends. And since it’s been quite awhile since it first conceived in my mind, I thought it’s time for its revolution and time to take it on a higher notch.

That is to say to bring you a more insightful look in the fashion industry. We will be doing reviews on brands, people, new releases, and everything that pertains to fashion, beauty, and shopping.

Anyway, as its kick off for this said “revolution” let’s start by a review with a name that seems to be synonymous with the word fashion: Tyra Banks.

Hailed by the Time magazine as one of the world’s most influential people, Tyra Banks is an American supermodel, television personality and talk show host. Tyra has first appeared to prominence on the catwalks of Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo and New York. She is simply the well known hostess/judge of the reality television show “America’s Next Top Model” and she is also currently hosting her very own Daytime Emmy Award-nominated talk show which is “The Tyra Banks Show.”

It was in 1991 when she decided to pursue her modeling career instead of studying to Loyola Marymount University. During her first week in Paris, Banks caught the attention of many designers so she booked for 25 shows which is a record for someone who is an amateur in the business. She had come a long way in modeling for the fashion/advertising giants like Anna Sui, Coors Light, CoverGirl, Bill Blass, Cynthia Rowley, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Nike, Inc., Victoria’s Secret, Swatch, Tommy Hilfiger, McDonald’s and a lot more. Banks also appeared on the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Elle. For a record, Banks was the first African American woman who was on the covers of GQ and on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

She had received the Michael Award for Supermodel of the year in 1997 and in the same year, she was chosen as the cover girl of the Victoria’s Secret catalog. It was in 2005 when Banks decided to retire from modeling and had concentrated on her television show.

Well I guess Tyra’s one example of some girls getting it all…
