Today I'll go a little more serious - away from fashion and entertainment for a while - to plea for support and donations regarding the social outreach I am currently busy with (together with my college classmates).

Introduction

It’s hard to make children read their textbooks; it’s harder to make them read out of leisure; it’s hardest when there are no reading materials to begin with.

In the rural areas, schoolchildren have limited access to age-appropriate books both in their libraries and in their homes. The government admits to having a dearth of reference materials including textbooks in public schools. So these kids are painfully missing out on the great benefits of reading.

Educational researches show that there is a direct relationship between reading and academic success. Good readers have better comprehension, can communicate better and are able to think critically compared with those who did not develop the habit of reading.

Reading is also instrumental in broadening the interests of children and in strengthening their resolve in learning, which is an important factor in narrowing the socio-economic gap between the rich and the poor.

While poverty is largely inherited, with majority of poor people today having had parents who were also poor, the love for reading is not. Maryanne Wolf, a professor at Tufts University and director of its Center for Reading and Language Research, in her book, “Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain,” says that the development of reading, unlike vision and speech, cannot be genetically transmitted. This means that if you are a good reader, it doesn’t automatically mean that your children will be. It is important therefore to teach children the value of reading.

Instilling in a child the habit of reading is instrumental in building his/her future career. The inability to read is often linked to poverty, unemployment and crime. A study in the United States found that students who learn to read by Grade 3 are less likely to take drugs, drop out of school and end up in prison. Nobel Peace Prize winner Amartya Sen once remarked that “illiteracy and innumeracy are a greater threat to humanity than terrorism.”

Greg Mortenson in his bestselling book “Three Cups of Tea” shares that, “[Terror] happens because children are not offered a bright enough future that they have a reason to choose life over death.” Children who live in poverty and lack education are most likely the ones who wind up in rebel camps, thinking that war is the only occupation available to them.

This projects hopes to help break the cycle of poverty in the rural areas by giving schoolchildren access to printed materials, a critical variable in improving their education. It is hoped that the project can introduce children to the benefits of reading, help them perform better in aptitude tests and entrance exams, and ultimately help them become productive members of the community.

Goals and Objectives

The “Books for Peace” drive aims to help children in poor, conflict areas have access to age-appropriate books in their libraries and in their homes. Towards this, the project will:

1. Deliver some 2,000 books (in good condition) to schoolchildren and onto empty shelves of school libraries in a particular rural area of poverty and conflict;
2. Encourage the conduct of reading activities in the classroom;
3. Engage commercial organizations, non-profit groups, students and other organizations as partners in the project
4. Build a stronger community by asking those who have to help those less fortunate

Target Beneficiaries

Pre-school and elementary students of the primary schools in Mikasili and Balud in Damulog, Bukidnon (Mindanao) are the target beneficiaries of the project. These villages are situated along the Pulangi River and reachable through a motor boat. The schools in these areas were built through support from the Join Together Society (JTS), a Korean non-profit organization working to eradicate famine, disease and illiteracy.

In 1973, a skirmish between the MNLF and government troops following the creation of Damulog as a municipality erupted, devastating the bridge that linked Bukidnon to Cotabato, and causing the population to plummet from 15,000 in 1970 to just 4,000. The painful recovery took so many years but mostly left out the barangays along the Mulita and Pulangi Rivers, among them Mikasili and Balud, where most of the Muslim communities are located. The peace problem is also the reason that a vast land area is not cultivated.

Another skirmish in 2003 aggravated the situation. Despite being neighbors, a division between the lumads and Muslims became more pronounced. The previous administration never took steps to address peace in these troubled areas. When Romeo P. Tiongco won the 2007 elections, he started peace dialogues with Muslim communities. His administration made Poverty Reduction through Conflict Transformation (PovReCot) the cornerstone of his administration.
Project Design

In achieving the objectives above, the project proponents will write letters to various organizations requesting support through book donations. Collection boxes will be also placed in designated book drop-off areas in schools, offices and other establishments. Likewise, posters and flyers will be placed in high traffic areas. Press releases will be given to local newspapers.

Once the books have been collected, they will be sorted according to grade levels. The delivery of books is targeted on December 7, 2009 during the scheduled schools visit of the Venerable Pomnyum Snim, founder of JTS and 2002 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee for Peace and International Understanding.

Collection and delivery of books make up only one-half of the project, the other half is to ensure that the books are actually read by the schoolchildren. To do this, the project will partner with the teachers in the conduct of reading sessions and book seminar activities. A guide to various reading activities that may be done in class will be provided to the teachers. Monitoring of these reading activities can easily be done through JTS volunteers who make frequent visits to the school.

Timeline

The project will be carried out from October to December 2009.

In the recently held, Emmy’s, let’s take a look at those stars who opt to be goddesses in their Grecian gowns.

Leighton Meester

Choosing to wear a draped gown with ancient appeal, Emmy presented Leighton Meester is all in her Greek deity look with her layered Bottega Veneta gown. But while she indeed looked drop dead gorgeous here, I think this gown would have been better sans the over accentuated shoulders.

Cat Deeley

So You Think You Can Dance’s Cat Deeley flattered her figure in a draped, single-shoulder Alberta Ferretti gown with a fitted bodice. I love the gown’s draperies although I’m afraid it just blended too well on Cat’s complexion that it didn’t seem to stand out.

Kate Walsh

Private Practice star Kate Walsh was simply elegant in a flowing J. Mendel gown in the lightest shade of gray. The miss part I found here is the hair that did not go with the Grecian look.

Oh well, sophisticated and glamorous did the looks turn out, I figure nobody from this ‘category’ hit their looks perfectly. How about we check the other looks on the next post…

Celebrity fashion is such one world of slangs and connotations. Here in Fashion Re-View, celebrity fashion-related terms are always evolving. So for you not to get ‘lost in translation’ here are terms and phrases you’d often stumble upon here.

Ready? Here we go:

*celebrity (n) – Hollywood personalities who are often – if not always – the subject of this blog.

*look (n) – composed of the star’s hairdo, make-up, clothes, shoes, and accessories used in a particular event.

*well (adv) – an introductory word to signal that the writer has no other way to start a sentence.

*I so love… (int) – an expression expressing utter approval for a look which the writer finds hard to describe.

*what was she thinking?! – expression indicating literal question of the stars’ thoughts wearing a dress that’s utterly hideous but the writer could not find the perfect adjective to describe it.

*OMG! – acronym for Oh My God! May signal extreme favor or extreme disgust.

*it would’ve been – opening phrase indicating suggestion to make a look better.

*Goodness! (int) – expression to go with disgust and disbelief. Often goes with “what was she thinking?!”.

Designer in Focus: Jimmy Choo

This is actually an article I posted on my previous blog (Celebrity Fashion) few months ago. Since the blog seems to no longer exist, I thought I might as well repost it here.

They say that behind a successful man is a woman. In fashion, behind every stars’ hits is their designer. So to pay due recognition to the people behind the celebrities’ fabulous fashion statements, I bring you the category called, Designer in Focus.

As kick off to this category, I bring you Jimmy Choo.

Born Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat, Dato' Jimmy Choo OBE or Jimmy Choo for short is a London-based luxury fashion designer best known for his hand-made women's shoes, Jimmy Choo Ltd.

Born to a family of shoemakers (so you ever wonder where he got his talent), Jimmy is a Malaysian citizen of Hakka Chinese descent. At 11, Jimmy was able to make his very first shoe.

Graduating at Cordwainers’ Technical College in Hackney, London (now part of the London College of Fashion) in 1983, Jimmy can be considered one of the most famous graduates of the school. But going through college have not been easy for our brilliant designer; he had to work part-time at restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory to help fund his college education.

From a humble beginning, Jimmy’s name rose to fame when his creations were featured in a record eight pages in a 1988 issue of Vogue magazine. This was then boosted by the patronage of late Diana, Princess of Wales in the 1990s.

In 1996, together with British Vogue accessories editor, Tamara Mellon, Jimmy co-founded his famous Jimmy Choo Ltd.

From mere shoe-making, Jimmy has broadened his field venturing in clothes design to what is now known as the Jimmy Choo Couture line produced under license from Jimmy Choo Ltd. From the ready-to-wear line, it has also expanded to accessories that include handbags.

Well I have actually been pretty convincing myself that Inglourious Basterds isn’t only having this kind of hype just because of Brad Pitt. Aside from the hot, hot actor, the movie actually has a good story and of course other actors with equally great talent.

Anyway, as the movie was given a screening last Monday (August 17), let us all make a go-see of the stars and looks that attended the event.

Dazzling in black? Nah not really. Although the frock’s literally dazzling, I’m not sure if I’d have the same to say with the overall look. Why the dress doesn’t look too proportional, not even flattering for her figure.

To complete your trendy dress, you must also have a trendy pair of shoes. Every year, trends always changes. So we must be updated to the latest trends. Here are some of the trendy shoes this year:

Stilettos – they are trendy again this year. It is a hybrid of platform and stiletto: a hidden platform in the front part of the shoe, with a super-tall stiletto heel at the back. They look elegant and sexy in which, the higher they are, the hotter they look but thewy don’t offer much support for your feet.

Thick, Chunky Heels – unlike the stiletto, which is more graceful, it is better to walk in because of its thick heels. It will make your feet more comfortable to walk.

Tampered heels - Heels that start thick at the top and taper down, often with a curve, into a stiletto-esque point at the bottom. They are really sexy, interesting and modern style which can make your outfit trendier.

Squared-off toes - A nice, modern alternative to the lady-like round-toe; edgy, but not as harsh as a sharp point.

These are the shoes that are surely trendy this year. We must also remember that in choosing our shoes, we must choose the comfortable one. Also, the shoes must match our dresses and the event that we will attend.

2009’s trendy sunglasses

Sunglasses are now important accessories to complete our outfits. It is used to reflect our unique personalities. Here are some of the trendy sunglasses for the year 2009:

An accessory shows our own characters so we must choose well on what we will wear that will match personalities. We must not also forget to be on trend so that we will not left behind for what is new and what is not.

Storing Cosmetics

Storing cosmetics is very important. Not storing it right may cause your make-ups or lipsticks destroyed earlier.

In storing cosmetics, store it in cool, dry places which are not direct to sunlight. Humid and hot areas can cause the cosmetics to spoil.
Also, you have to check the expiry dates of your cosmetics. Expired cosmetics may have harmful bacteria.

Be sure that all your cosmetics are tightly capped so that, they are away from oxidation and contamination. It can also prolong the shelf life of your cosmetics.

Changing of colors and textures may be the signs of bacterial contamination.

Do not moisten cosmetics with water or saliva. Saliva creates a conductive environment for bacteria to breed.

Never share your cosmetics – not even a quick dash of lipsticks or eyeliner because chances of getting infection are high.

I guess most girls would agree that lipsticks really does some magic in turning a washed out look into a divalicious get-up. I am probably one of those who just can't live without a lipstick in my bag. And I guess nothing's wrong with that until I received this email giving warning about some lipsticks that may cause cancer.

Here goes the email:

Recently a brand called "Red Earth" decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90. It contained lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The Brands which contain lead are:
1.. CHRISTIAN DIOR
2. LANCOME
3. CLINIQUE
4. Y.S.L
5. ESTEE LAUDER
6. SHISEIDO
7. RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
8. CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
9. MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK.

The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of causing cancer.

After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. lipstick contained the most amount of lead.

Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer. If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
3. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick contains lead.

Stories like this become urban legends, constantly being repeated without anyone bothering to check the facts. Hoaxes and chain letters like this are not harmless - they waste time and bandwidth, and can be a genuine headache for support departments. Users need to be more skeptical, and ask themselves whether everything they are told by email can be believed."

Project Runway Canada winner, Evan Biddell proudly showcased his Fall 2008 Collection at the L’Oreal Toronto Fashion Week yesterday.

His collection, showing his versatility as a designer featured frocks that revealed both his classy and experimental personalities. There were really fabulous designs like the second clip just below the first. But there were also those that are kind of weird like the last clip in the photo. It’s really weird I can’t imagine someone wearing it in an event.

Anyway, I guess that’s just how artists think. There weirdness sure took them to where they are now. just like Evan Biddell.

Showcasing preloved’s Fall 2008 Collection at the L’Oreal Toronto Fashion Week in Canada, the fashion line obviously made use of bright colored tights to set the trends for this fall. In bright blue, ravishing red, sunlight yellow, and ultra violet, the coming season will sure be a parade of colors.

If tights would be so in this fall, then what would happen to Lindsay Lohan who’s actually planning to come up with her line of leggings?!

Don’t worry Lind’s I’d actually still go for leggings over tights as I don’t think I have the guts and confidence to wear these eye-catchy tights.

People Re-View: Lauren Conrad

Since my latest post on Celebrity Fashion Watch featured the feud between two of The Hills stars, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, I thought of bringing in to spotlight one these two young and sexy new fashion designers. I’m sorry Heidi, but today is Lauren Conrad’s day here in Fashion Re-View.

Born on February 1, 1986 in Laguna Beach, California, Lauren Katherine Conrad also referred as L.C. is an American reality TV personality and fashion designer.

Lauren along with seven other Laguna Beach teens rose to fame when MTV followed her personal life through the reality TV series, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.

In the fall of 2004, she entered Academy of Art University where she met Heidi Montag. The two immediately became friends, what went wrong is a big mystery that only these two can answer. Lauren only stayed at the university for one semester. She left San Francisco then transferred to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

In 2005 with Lauren still pursuing her studies and stated internship at Teen Vogue, the 22-year-old star began filming MTV’s new reality series, The Hills.

With an intense interest in fashion design since she was still young, Lauren pursued that dream despite the hectic schedule of being a star. And finally, in March 11, 2008, at the Mercedes-Benz L.A. Fashion Week, Lauren launched her own fashion line featuring her chic and glamorous designs.

Days after that, her then-friend Heidi Montag also released her own fashion line.

At a tender age, LC sure has proven a lot to herself already. She should be someone girls of her age (like me) should look up to.

Taking a Break

Fashion, beauty, shopping, trends, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired writing about this stuff. It’s so funny that it seems like I’ve been so hooked to blogging about these subjects that once I seriously considered broadening my horizons by enrolling to a fashion school. I’ve come to a point where I don’t want to just write about it, I want to be in the action; making fabulous frocks, designing creative gowns, applying make-up, cut hair fashionably. I’m actually smiling with the thought right now.

However, being so enthusiastic with fashion doesn’t mean that I can’t give myself a break anymore. Once in a while I turn to online slots to do away even for a little while to fashion. But well, I don’t just play the game just for the heck of it. Like a true blue fashionista, I read reviews and decide where play. After all, everybody deserves nothing but the best.

I would sure need information like progressive slots or how the odds are created to help me with my game. I may be a having a break on fashion, but I make sure that don’t do away with it much; playing with grace and wit. Yeah, a typical fashionista.

A Pleather Story

Yesterday on my Celebrity Fashion Watch blog I wrote about PETA’s latest ad campaign, Pleather Yourself. The ad featured former porn star Jenna Jameson clad in seductive pleather underwear.

So what is pleather and why is it better than leather?

Plastic leather, pleather for short, is a slang term for synthetic leather made out of plastic. It is usually used as a cheap substitute for leather which we know costs so much, not to mention causing various lives of animals.

Aside from being inexpensive, pleather may also be better than leather because of its lighter weight. And because it is made of plastic, it will not decompose as quickly. Talk about durability, right?!

If you are planning to get pleather for yourself, you must also know that not all pleathers are the same. Those made from Polyurethane is washable, can be dry-cleaned while allowing some air to flow through the garment. On the other hand, those made from PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is the opposite.

Me and My Shoes

More than two months ago, I ordered a pair of shoes online at one of my favorite online stores; http://methilation.multiply.com/.

Well I was really looking forward to wearing that pair for our Christmas get-together. Sadly, the shoes didn’t come on time due to some shipping problems.

When it finally reached my doorstep about the last week of January, I was really disappointed that the shoes didn’t fit; it was SUPER big. It was my fault actually for not taking my shoe size carefully. So I had to ask the site’s owner to have my size 8 shoes replaced by size 7 ½ . Unfortunately, there were no more smaller sizes for the shoes I chose so I had to pick for a new design.

Browsing to the site’s other designs, this pair of Pandora heels caught my attention; it was sleek, it was chic, and definitely very sexy! Thus, I wasted no time ordering the pair.

But like a really unfortunate event, turns out 7 ½ is still really big! I had to re-ship the pair again and have it changed with a smaller size, 7.

Finally, after more than two months of various misfortunes, my Pandora pair that fits perfectly has arrived. I love it! It was all the wait after all.

Considering a Change of Career

It has been almost a year since I started blogging about fashion; well that includes Hollywood celebrities, shopping, beauty, and the trends. It was of course a wonderful experience sharing about the things I truly enjoy and love writing about. This blog, along with my Celebrity Fashion Watch blog is my outlet of sharing the kikay in me.

However, since I am already maintaining two blogs about fashion, I thought of adding another blog with an entirely different topic. One that would really make people think as something way out of my league. Say, a blog about online casino, gadgets, computer games, or something about the earth and the environment.

Oh my, I can’t help but giggle with the thought. It seems like I’ve gotten too accustomed to writing stuff about fashion that writing about casinos with best bonuses or about global warming do send smile on my face.

But actually I really am considering the thought. Imagine me talking about the latest technology and gadgets rather than the latest in the runway, huh?!

You know it ain’t easy maintaining this kind of blogs. One has to be “fashion-driven” and persistent in finding the best materials for your posts; two or three references is actually not enough to come up with quality and up to date fashion-related entries.

However, no matter how good a fashion blog is, if one isn’t really interested in the subject, then there’s no way transforming that person in to a fashionista. Like it or not, they are those who belong to the latter choice.

They are those who’d rather get themselves in online casino games than read about the latest hits and misses in the fashion industry. The ones who would rather check the list of the best casino sites than check best look of the day at InStyle.

February is fast approaching; and as I hinted on my previous post, this month marks the event where young boys and girls transform into gentlemen and beautiful ladies. Not Valentine’s of course; it’s the prom night.

Before we go deeper to planning what to wear who to date, let’s take a pause for a while and get to know the event.

So what really is Prom?

Prom is a shortcut to promenade, an event in the US and Canada describing a formal dance held during the end of an academic year. In the UK, the term refers to a season of classical concerts (proms), held between July and September.

For large high schools, prom is usually divided into two; junior prom, for those finishing their 11^th grade, and the senior prom, for students finishing middle school.

The event serves as an opportunity for the students to socialize and get acquainted in to formal events. Thus, everyone’s in their best formal wear.

Common activities that take place in the event include dining, dancing, and the crowning of the prom King and Queen.

Proms are often times also considered the “most romantic” night of the high school students’ lives as they get to go out with the person they like. I guess that’s the real reason behind the I-want-to-look-ultra-fabulous mindset during proms.

Well, with or without a date, undoubtedly, proms are one of those high points of a high school student’s life; an event truly worth remembering.

It’s no question; I am a huge fashion fanatic! Well it may not show on my wardrobe, but it definitely shows through the blogs I maintain (including this one). And if you are just like me who’s just excited to see what in for this year in the fashion scene then this post if for you.

The Brown

Yep, this year, brown leather belts take in to the limelight through long and looped looks, well twisted and knotted are okay, too. Wear it over feminine frocks or ultra girly dresses to keep it from looking so sweet, that’s unless you are really a big fan of Hello Kitty, right?!

Hand Bags

Square, rectangle, big, small, the size and shape does not matter; grab bags are the ‘in’ thing this year. While oversized bags are still going to have a place this year, these hand bags or carry bags will show a smarter and casual personality.

Although it may look manly, cropped pants are in fact sexy if paired with a serious heel and ultra feminine tops.

Gladiators

They’re still in! While it has been relatively neutral on the previous seasons, these gladiator sandals are now taking in to a higher edge with wild straps and bold colors.

As mentioned on my of my previous posts, leggings are probably gonna say goodbye in the fashion scene this year. Aside from opaques that have seem to dominate the leg world recently, sheer legs via stockings and diaphanous pants also makes scenes in the runway trend.

Preparation: Be sure your face is clean and properly moisturized. Makeup blends best into moisturized skin. Also, if possible, put your dress on before doing your makeup to prevent any stains or smudges that might get on the dress while slipping it over your head.

Step 1: Use your index finger to gently cover any dark circles under your eyes with a concealer that is one shade lighter than the rest of your skin.

Step 2: If you have any unfortunate prom-night zits or blemishes (they happen to the best of us), cover them with a foundation that is the exact color of your skin. Step back from the mirror and see if your skin has any blotches or redness. If so, blend these patches with a little more foundation. If you cannot find a foundation the exact color of your skin, choose a slightly darker shade. A light foundation will appear to sit on your face and will not blend as well.

Step 3: Set your makeup by lightly covering your face with a small amount of powder. If you do not use powder, your concealer will disappear before the night is over.

Step 4: Groom your brows by combing them up and across with a brow brush or toothbrush (used only for this purpose!). If you have thin brows, softly apply eye shadow to fill the brows in and give them a fuller appearance. Do not tweeze or pluck your brows on the night of the prom. This will cause noticeable redness and irritation.

Step 5: Use your finger or a brush to apply shimmery shadow to your eyelids. A silvery lavender shade is flattering for almost everyone, but you can experiment with the shade based upon your natural complexion and the color of your dress.

Step 6: Apply some cream blush to give your cheeks a touch of color. Start at the apple of the cheek and blend the blush up and then down with a full brush. Turn to the side to be sure the blush is fully blended. The perfect color of blush for you is the same as the color of your cheeks after a few minutes of exercise.

Step 7: Apply some mascara to both your top and bottom eyelashes, creating a thicker covering on the outer lashes. To create an appearance of fuller, longer lashes, wait for the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat.

Step 8: Fill in your entire lip with a creamy lip pencil for longer lasting color. Then, use your finger or a brush to apply gloss on top. The gloss will give you a sexy, wet-lip look. Choose your lip color based upon your complexion, the color of your dress, and how much you want your lips to stand out.

About six months ago, just during the time that I am conceptualizing this blog, three things were considered; its subject, its audience, and its profitability. The latter may sound so off the line, but for me it is an important factor because it is my way of gauging that I get something from my hard-work.

Of course a blog for money sounds so much better than blogging for nothing. Going with the flow, I guess blog advertising is just the ‘in’ thing these days. Advertisers advertise on blogs for easy marketing while bloggers get paid for blogging with the reviews they make.

Now Smorty is just one of this services that allows advertisers to be connected with bloggers. Well this is actually my third attempt for Fashion Re-View, and finally it has just got approved! Happy New Year everyone!

Well since it’s the first day of the year, let’s mellow down a bit from the usual “I love so” and “I so hate” lines out of various shopping or beauty products. After all, this blog isn’t just about that stuff.

The year 2007 has generally been a good year for me, with several ups and downs. I gave birth to a healthy, cute, and handsome baby boy, I got a lot of opportunities from pay per post sites, I got the job to do the celebrity fashion watch blog, and had a healthy year for me and my family.

Although I had my share of frustrations due to not finding a “real job” (depends on how you define that) I am just grateful that for the past year I had enough of everything.

Yes, it was a great year of the pig for me…but hopefully this year will be better for everything!

Journpipz: A Fashionable Get-Together

Okay, this is really not about fashion or anything related to that. But since it’s a holiday, let’s have a break from the stressful world of fashion and beauty.

Five days from now, my college group called Journpipz is having our get-together (again). Well this semi-reunion is pretty much special than our usual gatherings. After graduation, we seem to have lived our own separate ways. Some went abroad (spell that as Abu Dhabbi), some went to other cities (Cebu, Manila), some continued to finish their studies (I hope they pursue), some found their jobs here in the city, and some started to have a family (grins!).

This year, as some of the gang are coming home, it would be the most perfect opportunity to spend an afternoon of talks, laughter, and most of all, gapping.

Oh yes, we all love to gap. I guess we put a positive meaning to the word – making a statement with just being together.

And of course it’s not just the “gapping”, it’s the catching up with our fellow Journpipz…

Well as much as possible I try to do away from making celebrity-related posts here on Fashion Re-View since I already have my Celebrity Fashion Watch blog. I think therefore I am… I think I love this pair of shoes therefore I am shoe addict. Nah, kidding aside, but really, I guess I’m having myself an obsession on fabulous wedges. For me they’re better than stilettos.

They are better because they answer my needs and problems for having sweaty feet. Yes, I have that; that’s why I can’t afford to wear fancy stilettos with gliding features.

Unlike wedges, stilettos give a higher risk of sprain not to mention disastrous incidents. So imagine me not enjoying my prom because of these sweaty feet.

Anyway, since then I told myself not to push on things that are really not for me. So I chose using wedges instead. And it’s actually not that bad. They’re funky, unconventional, and they make beautiful statements just like this Strawberry Shortcake wedges.

For a record, Banks was the first African American woman who was on the covers of GQ and on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
