Belt Guide

This entry is based on the previous post I made about the fashionable belt I received from my friend.

Well since we’re talking about belts now, I saw this article that features tips and guide for those who have fetish for belts.

1. Tailored Belts

Capitalizing on the resurgence of patent leather shoes and accessories, tailored belts are one of the most intriguing looks of the season. Rather than pairing it with formal work wear, try mixing it with ultra-feminine styles such as ruffles, lacy fabrics, and crochet. The slightly rugged element of a tailored belt helps balance out these pretty, very girly styles.

2. Preppy Belts

Preppy belts are perfectly suited to this spring's nautical trend. Look for cute, tailored belts in great colors such as red, black, white, and blue to update your basic shorts or capris. These belts also look great when worn with other "preppy" items such as polo shirts and blazers.

3. Woven Belts

Woven accessories are another hot trend this season. This look works great with bohemian-inspired fashions and the Western-style trends, as well as with classic casual clothing and work wear. Keep the buckle fairly simple to avoid looking like you've gone overboard on cowboy-inspired accessories.

4. Ribbon and Sash Belts

Simple ribbon belts are a great way to add a feminine touch to any wardrobe. Sash belts in global-inspired prints look great paired with long skirts, basic jeans, or capris. Wear these belts tied low at the hip and over long, loose blouses. Ribbon belts also work well when worn cinched over dresses or simple blazers.

5. Wide Belts

The look popularized by trendsetters like Kate Moss continues to dominate this season. Look for wide leather belts that can be worn low on the waist. Tooled leather, embroidery, metal studs, and gorgeous buckles are always a classic look. Because these belts are both durable and timeless, don't be afraid to splurge on something that is unique or handmade.

6. Embellished Belts

Belts adorned with large flowers, butterflies, beads, or stones are a great way to add a bit of feminine flourish to a simple outfit. Pair one of these belts with your favorite pair of jeans and a basic tank top for a look that is fresh, simple, and very sleek. Keep the rest of your look simple in order to draw attention to your waist.

Now that you have this, go now and get your own style of belts!

Still with Justine’s ultimate “pasalubong” galore. Okay, I do not mean to brag about anything or whatever. This is just my way of expressing my gratitude for these cool presents.

No, it’s not the jeans, not the shoes, and not the shirt – it’s the brown belt. I just love it! It’s so cute, perfect to break plains that cause ‘boredom’ to fashion. For someone with big thighs like me, it’s helpful to turn the attention on the hips and not on those “bulging part”.

So it’s actually more than an accessory!

I’m Wearing a ‘Famous’ Necklace

Two-months ago, Justine, one of my frenchies, went to Australia for a vacation. We were all so ecstatic for her return for obvious reason – ‘pasalubong.’

Last Monday, our “most awaited” moment came in form of a bag pink bag; inside of which are our ‘pasalubong’ in various forms. Yipeee!

What’s more fantastic is that I’m getting a necklace that appeared in a famous teen mag in Australia. The necklace was worn by Alanna Deutrom who was chosen as Girlfriend of the Year 2007 of Girlfriend mag.

Real Beauty

I know this video has been online for quite some time now. But I guess a refresher ain’t that bad especially if it aims to stress again and again what real beauty is.

Here’s the video from Dove’s campaign to real beauty. If you’ve seen it already, good, but you might want to see it again. If not, this is your chance.

Fashion Re-view stresses that beauty is more that meets the eye.

Beauty and Fashion Tips (Contest Winner)

Now it's time to give you the winner of the fashion and beauty tips contest...

Physical wellness and beauty tools need not be expensive nor hard to find. Here are some essential tips I learned from experience, in keeping your face & body in tip-top shape without burning a whole in your pocket:

To take out the redness and swelling off pimples, apply a dab of toothpaste on it & leave overnight to allow fast-drying. If you have sensitive skin (or if you're a teeny bit wary of the thought of toothpaste on your face), use eyedrops or ice on the pimple instead. (Ice works well to reduce redness in blemishes as well!)

When a nose patch isn't available, try using Scotch tape or any sticky tape to remove blackheads.

If dry skin is your problem, I suggest DOVE body soap. It leaves your skin moisturized throughout the day. Applying lotion as a daily routine helps heaps too. Choose a lotion with Aloe as it has properties to aid dry and flaky skin.

For pseudo foundation during those rush moments, splash some cold water on your face. It temporarily freshens you up & evens out the skin tone. For an oily face, use tissue or maybe a towel to gently rub & absorb facial oil. Biting your lips can bring an instant mock-lipstick look...and for on-the-spot blush? Slap your cheeks (gently) to give you a temporary glow.

Sleepy eyes can be remedied by applying some brown eyeliner on your top eyelid, just above the eyelashes.

Bad breath a problem? This quick solution can work. Either gargle with water + baking soda, or have a few bites of a cucumber or an apple.

The most basic beauty tip? Drink lots and lots of water. It hydrates and cleans the skin as well as the rest of the body.

Congratulations, Shanice!

Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

My mom’s attending a beauty pageant this Saturday, oh no, she’s definitely not one of those contestants nor one of the judges. She’s going up the stage to give out some minor awards.

Anyway, what does this have to do with today’s post? Well since we wanted to be practical, my mom asked me to do her make-up instead of asking some make-up artist to do it. Aside from being expensive, it’s also a bit inconvenient to go to the salon then go back home and dress up.

Although I’m no professional to putting on that colors on the face, I can do a little sweeping and gliding with that make-up brush.

Since it’s an evening event, I am planning to give my mom that smoky eyes look. Well I learned it from magazines and beauty sites; heavy eye make-up is definitely a knock out.

So here’s a step-by-step guide for those who want to try the look for themselves.

1. Start with a primer. This will make sure your eyeshadow does not melt into your eyelid crease.

2. Apply eyeliner. Apply black, brown, or gray eyeliner depending on your choice of monochromatic look. Put it on above the upper lash line with a thicker crease in the middle of the eye.

3. Blend color. The key to a smoky eye look is the blending of the color on the bottom lashes. Smudge it!

4. Apply light color. Smoky eyes are all about pairing a lighter base to a darker hue.

5. Blend dark color keeping the darker hue below the crease. This will give the smoky effect.

6. Finish with several coats of volumizing mascara. And viola! A smoky eye look in an instant!

And remember; the key to a perfect smoky eye is just a matter of proper blending. Add to that, keep the lips nude to get the focus on your eyes.

Inside My Closet

True; Eminem would be my favorite rapper of all-time, but this post isn't about him and his song "Cleanin' Out My Closet" (I'm sorry mama, I never meant to hurt you....lalalala). This post is about my latest shirt purchase that I just so love - a black and white horizontal stripes from Kamiseta.

Well I mentioned on my 451 blog about celebs going on horizontal, and yes, am joining the trend! I just love the feel of the shirt; it's comfy, casual, but the black and white stripes gave it a class and chic appeal. You can wear it on movies or for job interviews (Am wearing mine for the latter, though). You can match and mix the shirt and it will surely still look 'glam'.

So what about the horizontal lines rule? Well, with the bold blocks black and white, it helps segment your body and give you a more trim figure. Besides, it really stands out.

My Favorite Mousse

Since I introduced Avon's Perfect Match Concealer Stick for my contest's prize, I have to share with you my latest addition to my favorite beauty items - my new Avon mousse foundation.

And yes, I am a big fan of Avon, but this one's really different. Actually, I'm not a big fan of foundations because they seem to grease the face and they feel so heavy. Well I changed my mind when I tried this mousse foundation. It's light, non-greasy and I certainly believe that it blends well with my skin tone making it look flawless and glowing.

I guess I just found another bestfriend for my face! Thanks to my new mousse

Sweeping the Shine Away

Exfoliants, cleansers, moiturizers, anti-aging, and the list go for so on and so on when it comes to products used for taking care of the skin. Some cheap and others cost some wealth. But for vanity’s sake, who cares?

I for one have my favorite brands of facial care products – Pond’s Perfect Care Facial Wash and St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub.

I actually use them alternately. I love the facial wash of Pond’s Perfect Care because it gives you a really fresh after use feeling. You really know that your fresh is clean because it does feel clean.

St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub on the other hand is a bit stronger but you know the beads work to really clean the pores in your face.

I actually use the products alternately but I use St. Ive’s every night just to clean the dirt from everyday work then Pond’s every morning just t get off that oil.

Maintaining a clean face doesn’t only relieves you from stress and dirt but it also assures you of a healthy-looking and glowing façade.

Cotton for You

Who’s into the casual-but-smart fashion? If you are, then this cotton dress from Façonnable is just right for you.

Well, darker shades are always perfect in projecting elegance. The frock is however a not-so-affordable wear for those in budget, as it cost $225 (only). The nice thing about this dress is that it gives the comfort of cotton while giving a chic appeal.

Vest for the Reinvention

It’s actually been quite awhile since I posted my last “fashion re-view.” Well I actually made some “recollection” kind-of-thing and poop! I realize I need to do some reinvention in this blog.

So from the usual fashion guide and advice, Fashion Re-View takes on a higher level of fashion coverage. From now on, this will be your resource for the latest in fashion world! From the hottest trends in clothes, to accessories, shoes, and everything that is fashion.

What’s in store for today’s post? Well here’s a wool vest featured in August 2007 in jcrew.com.

For $98 the vest is perfect for casual party or just the usual “hanging-around” activity.

I think one special feature of the vest is that it gives the person that [will] don[s] it a smart and classy look. It’s perfect for the “conservative” and those trying to be one. :)
